Hey folks, beginning of 2024 I did some scraping for a pet project of mine, scraped around 700 Linkedin DevOps jobs data. Yesterday I did that again for March 2025 data and compared the two.

What I saw did NOT surprise me
Lot of competition on the market so more DevOps positions demands being proficient with coding
Golang went up +13% jump (from just 5% to 18% of job postings).
Terraform increased +9% increase
GitHub Actions (+6%) and Python (+8%) are also seeing significant growth.

Another sad and surprising trend is Jenkins is going up +6%
I attribute it to people not using it much anymore and shortage of people willing to work with it.

Table 2: CI/CD Tools Comparison in DevOps Job Postings (2024 vs 2025)

Tech 2024 (%) 2025 (%) Change
Jenkins 30% 35% +5%
GitLab CI 38% 34% -4%
GitHub Actions 14% 14% 0%
CodePipeline 10% 10% 0%
ArgoCD 5% 5% 0%
FluxCD 3% 2% -1%

Table 3: Certification Mentions in DevOps Job Postings (2024 vs 2025)

Cert 2024 (%) 2025 (%)
AWS Moderate (31%) Low (17%) -14%
Azure Moderate (27%) Low (14%) -13%
GCP NA NA

Cloud certifications appear to be losing their shine. AWS cert mentions dropped significantly from 31% to 17%, and Azure certs went from 27% to 14%. This is probably not surprising to many of you - the cert market is pretty saturated.

Good news

The overall tech job market is looking better than last year. Total layoffs year-to-date are around half of what was in 2024, and the hiring freeze seems to be thawing rapidly. Tech roles specifically have seen a 9.5% increase in job postings since Jan 2025.
